Job Description

Reporting to: Dawn Newton, Marketing and Communications Executive

Hours of work: 3-4 days per/week, flexible days
Term: 3 months
Start Date: ASAP

The Job
As a Communications and Marketing intern, you will work with the team to deliver key marketing messages over a range of channels to our wide network of partners, stakeholders and potential supporters.

Main Responsibilities
• Actively manage the growth of our current social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, Blog)
• Measure and enhance the impact of our online social media strategy
• Monitor postings and interactions on social media platforms
• Monitor Healthy Planet’s adopt-a-plot branding image on the web
• Help us design and launch online events
• Ensure the Healthy Planet website content is kept relevant and up to date
• Plan and write blog posts
• Work with team members, delivering reactive and proactive PR: writing press releases and responses to announcements; and identifying, initiating and placing newsworthy stories, case studies and features in both print and online media
• Monitor news for relevant stories and news trends
• Support the Marketing & Communications Manager in implementing Healthy Planet’s Marketing & Communications Plan
• Build and nurture external relationships with a range of target market audiences, online and offline, especially through the use of social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)
• Support with SEO & pay per click campaigns
• Gather monitoring information weekly for social media & website hits (Google analytics) and create reports analysing
• Help to create the HTML newsletter
• Protect and enhance the reputation of Healthy Planet.

What you will need…
The successful intern will demonstrate a real interest in communications, marketing and media. You will also be an effective and engaging communicator with experience of social networking sites aimed at young people, and will be passionate about environmental issues.

• Research experience, excellent computer skills, eye for detail, self-motivated
• Ability to make connections in online settings
• Experience in social media and/or blogging
• A passion for environmental issues especially global conservation
• Experience using Google Analytics or other online monitoring sites
• Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent writing skills
• Self-starter with the ability to use own initiative to identify creative marketing solutions
• Team Player
• Ability to build networks and make and maintain connections
• Good research skills
• Punctual & good time management
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities in a busy office environment
• Good attention to detail
• Good level of computer literacy, ideally including use of Content Management Systems
